The races are not only an event to bet but also an event to dress! British summer time, in particular, is the season to enjoy in this event, where you will be told to dress in your formal attire and gather to spectate. Ladies and Gents will of course have a dress code to follow including ladies being told to wear below or just above the knee in dresses and skirts, with their mid-riff not allowed to be shown. The races is almost a fashion show within itself... where you spend weeks planning an outfit! We have selected a number of outfit choices below to make it easier to shop for the big day...

This ASOS floral pencil dress is one to make heads turn whilst at the races. The dress which is by True Violet is created as a 2-in-1 with a crew neck to add sophistication and elegance. This is a perfect outfit choice for one that likes to wear print, and is fond of a feminine aesthetic. Priced at £59, the dress is very good value for money, which could be worn either in the day or night.

Boden have the perfect dress for one who may not choose to wear floral, but a striped pattern instead. The silhouette is flattering to any body shape, helping to highlight curves with the tailored pleats at the waist and the bottom half created in an A-Line. The high neck is a complimenting technique and paying £98 the dress is very reasonable in price, as it is practical and made from quality materials.

This ruffle-front lace dress in blue is certainly eye-catching and a popular item at Very. The dress, which may appeal to many that stick to plain rather than pattern, is flattering on the body, with the pencil skirt ruffle on the edge highlighting a feminine touch to the dress. The ruffle edges on the top also create the same effect and at £80 this Myleene Klass dress is definitely one not to miss!

Phase Eight's red pencil dress is simple, but practical and bright in colour. The dress itself, is smart and features short sleeves, for some that wish to cover up their upper arms and shoulders. The round neck line and latter stitching along the sleeves and bottom of the skirt add attention to detail. At £130 Phase Eight's dress is a definite contender when choosing what to wear to the races.
