What to bring on a long weekend away

How many clothes are too much? Exactly how many shoes is too many? We're gonna say more shoes than the number of days in the trip and you've hit your limit, although who are we to judge? Packing for a weekend away is basically the equivalent of packing for an expedition to the moon, because, who the hell knows what you're going to need when you're there?! There's the weather, the itinerary, the guests, just way too many things to accommodate, although this season, we're all about smart packing - here are a few rules to hopefully make things a tad easier.

CHIC LUGGAGE

You should always start as you mean to go on, and we're not suggesting you go out and buy a full set of Louis Vuitton trunks a la Joan Collins (although if you really want to, you totally should), instead opt for the chic vanity case from Reiss for a nod to old school glamour.

smart dressing

Nope, we don't mean apple watches and light up shoes (depending on your destination), but clothes that you can easily wear from day to night. This shirt dress from New Look is the perfect example.

Accessories are your friend

Day to night dressing is only aided by the clever use of accessories. Take your shirt dress for example...replace your day sandals with a chic pair of wedges or stilettos, pull your hair back into a chic chignon and add a pair of dangling earrings to dress the look up. Finish with a cute evening clutch for a failsafe evening look. *note: this sort of dressing doesn't work so much when going from beach to black tie event*.

Embrace your destination

This last one is pretty self explanatory, but if you're going to the seaside, pick cute breton stripes and shades of blue and white instead of your usual uniform of black, black and...black.
